Per quasi cent'anni, a cavallo tra il XV° e XVI° secolo, ci furono molti scontri e duelli tra le famiglie avversarie Colloredo e Savorgnan; tant'è che, secondo una leggenda, un Colloredo fece dipingere di rosso la sua parte del castello per evitare che in caso di attacco da parte del suo nemico Savorgnan venissero  distrutte le abitazioni dei suoi parenti che vivevano vicino a lui.

For almost a hundred years, between the 15th and 16th centuries, there were many clashes and duels between the opposing families Colloredo and Savorgnan; so much so that, according to a legend, a Colloredo had his part of the castle painted red to prevent the houses of his relatives who lived near him from being destroyed in the event of an attack by his enemy Savorgnan.
