Nel 1915 durante il primo conflitto mondiale Venezia viene bombardata e una cannonata austriaca centra in pieno il tetto della chiesa.

But the madness of war had no respect even for that magnificent work. In 1915, during the First World War, Venice was bombed and an Austrian cannon fire hit the roof of the church.
