Lagoon heritage in your home

The UACE project, dedicated to the enhancement and conservation of Cultural Heritage, opens the doors of the Scalzi Church.
Located in the heart of the lagoon in the Cannaregio district, the opera by Baldassarre Longhena, overlooking the Grand Canal for over 300 years.

The church of Santa Maria di Nazareth, now a national monument, it owes its origin to the installation of the order of the Carmelites Barefoot in Venice in the 17th century.

The Venetian-inspired Longhena architectural system and Palladian, the intervention of Fra Giuseppe Pozzo with extraordinary results of baroque dynamism. Thanks to the commissions of large merchant families, such as the Mora, the Lumaga and the Giovannelli, the church is rich in the works of great artists the likes of Giambattista Tiepolo, Jacopo Antonio Pozzo, Heinrich Meyring.
