Le vedute di Venezia di Guardi erano estremamente popolari tra i visitatori del XVIII secolo della città, ma non tutte erano dell'artista stesso: la sua bottega riproduceva composizioni e motivi basati sui suoi dipinti e disegni precedenti, mentre gli emulatori approfittavano del mercato per il gusto che lui aveva contribuito a impostare. Questi ciondoli includono diversi elementi noti dai disegni di Guardi e molto probabilmente furono eseguiti da assistenti nel suo studio, lavorando su una scala modesta che si adattava perfettamente ai clienti che cercavano un souvenir ma non l'impegno finanziario di un grande dipinto del maestro.
Guardi’s views of Venice were hugely popular among eighteenth-century visitors to the city, but not all were by the artist himself: his workshop reproduced compositions and motifs based on his earlier paintings and drawings, while emulators took advantage of the market for the taste he had helped to set. These pendants include several elements known from Guardi’s drawings and were most likely executed by assistants in his studio, working on the modest scale that was perfectly suited to customers seeking a souvenir but not the financial commitment of a large painting by the master.
