LE STAMPE DA TIZIANO

Tiziano comprese molto presto le potenzialità delle riproduzioni a stampa,
ed è ben nota l’importanza della stampa nell’opera sua e della bottega come mezzo propagandistico,
di divulgazione e celebrazione delle invenzioni grafiche e pittoriche.
Tale fortuna però non si concluse al momento della sua scomparsa, tanto che “assieme a Raffaello,
Michelangelo, Polidoro da Caravaggio e Giulio Romano, Tiziano è stato uno degli artisti
più copiati e riprodotti, sia in vita che dopo la morte” (F. Cocchiara).

Titian understood early on the potential of prints.
In fact, the importance of printmaking for his works and that of his workshop as a tool for propaganda,
dissemination, and celebration of his graphic and pictorial inventions is well-known.
Appreciation of his prints did not end with his passing, so much so that “alongside Raphael,
Michelangelo, Polidoro da Caravaggio and Giulio Romano, Titian was one of the most copied
and reproduced artists, both during his lifetime and after his death.” (F. Cocchiara)
